An abundance has been reported in the press just a while ago about the bingo industry being hit as a result of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to help keep the industry afloat. But can the web variation of this quintessential game offer a escape, or will it never compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an classic game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game of late had experienced a recent increase in popularity with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlors in place of the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to be reversed with the enforcement of the anti smoking law across United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be permitted to smoke while marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of '07 every public place will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored locations where players enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo parlours. Profits have dropped and the industry is absolutely struggling for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not given up on this established game?

The answer is on the web. People realize that they can gamble on bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and still enjoy big cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the internet is unlikely to replace the communal part of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the law has left many bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
