Much has been talked in the press recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the online adaptation of this traditional game provide a lifeline, or will it never compare to its bricks and mortar relative?

Bingo is an classic game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game recently had seen a recent return in appeal with younger people opting to visit the bingo parlours in place of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the enacting of the anti cigarette law all over England and Wales.

No more will players be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst marking off their numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public places will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already not permitted in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the business is literally struggling for its life. But where did the players go? Certainly they haven't given up on this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers realise that they can gamble on bingo from their computer while enjoying a beverage and cig and still enjoy huge cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the web can never replace the collective portion of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a lot of bingo players with little choice.
