Much has been stated in the press just a while ago about the bingo industry being hit because of the cigarette ban in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for huge tax cuts to assist in keeping the businesses alive. However does the net version of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or might it never compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?

Bingo has been an established game generally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had experienced a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger men and women deciding to hit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti smoking law all over Britain.

No more will players be able to smoke whilst marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most common places where people like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already barred in the bingo halls. Profits have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not cast aside this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers know that they can participate in bingo using their computer while enjoying a beer and cig and still enjoy massive cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the anti smoking law.

Of course playing on the internet is unlikely to replace the collective aspect of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the law has left many bingo players with no option.
