Much has been talked in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt because of the cigarette ban in England. Things have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However can the internet version of this traditional game present a salvation, or will it in no way compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo has been an established game historically played by the "blue haired" generation. However the game of late had experienced a recent increase in acceptance with younger people opting to go to the bingo halls in place of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the legislating of the anti smoking law throughout Britain.

No more will players be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of '07 all public places will not be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most popular areas where many people enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlours. Players have plunged and the industry is literally fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Obviously they have not given up on this familiar game?

The answer is online. Gamblers know that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beer and fag and in the end, have a chance at monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course gambling on on the internet will never replace the collective part of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left many bingo players with little option.
