An abundance has been talked in the press recently regarding the bingo industry being hit because of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive tax cuts to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the internet adaptation of this classic game provide a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its land based kin?

Bingo is an classic game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game of late had experienced a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlors in place of the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the smoking ban around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be able to smoke while marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of '07 every public area will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where people enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Obviously they haven't abandoned this classic game?
