Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That's because the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for decades. Guests from each of the neighboring states pile in vehicles and visit Oklahoma to play Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a landmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, 23 of the 39 Amerindian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the wagering laws, and today run 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. computerized games like one armed bandits weren't permitted, owing to the fact that they're believed to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law has changed to allow for gigantic Native betting gambling halls. You will now see American Indian gambling dens with slot machine games, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not yet approved in the Amerindian gambling halls yet, however this is simply a matter of time. Nobody can say what having other games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
