An abundance has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the cigarette ban in Britain. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However can the online variation of this classic game present a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo is an classic game generally played by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game of late had undergone a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger people deciding to hit the bingo halls in place of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to be reversed with the introduction of the smoking ban all over Britain.

No longer will players be able to smoke at the same time marking numbers. Starting in the summer of '07 every public place will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favorite places where many people like to smoke.

The results of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo halls. Profits have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they haven't given up on this established game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers realise that they can bet on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the internet could never replace the social portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of people the law has left a good many bingo players with little choice.
